John H. Milliman was a passenger in a BMW headed north on Route 222 around 10:40 a.m., according to state police. The BMW was struck by a tractor-trailer when it turned left onto Kressler Road, rotating 90 degrees and coming to rest near the center median, troopers said.

Milliman, of North Whitehall, was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest where he died from multiple blunt force injuries a few hours later, the Coroner's Office said. His manner of death was ruled accidental.

The driver of the BMW, 65-year-old Linda Milliman, was also taken to the hospital with what police believe were serious injuries. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured, they added.

State police detoured traffic from the Route 222 bypass to Kressler Road for several hours Monday as investigators worked the scene.

Troopers and the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office continue to investigate the deadly crash, the coroner added. Any witnesses are asked to call PSP in Fogelsville at 610-395-1438.
